ECOC 2019: EFFECT Photonics demonstrates RocketChip Module

BRINGING FLEXIBLE AND AFFORDABLE DWDM TO THE EDGES OF THE NETWORK

EFFECT Photonics will be at ECOC Exhibition 2019, Stand #317, which takes place in Dublin, Ireland from 23 to 25 September and we would love to see you there!

NARROWAVE ENABLED SFP+ MODULES

At ECOC 2019, EFFECT Photonics is demonstrating its NarroWave enabled SFP+ modules. NarroWave is a new feature that allows customers to monitor and control remote SFP+ modules from the central office, without making any hardware or software changes in the field. NarroWave is agnostic of vendor equipment, data rate or the protocol of the in-band traffic. The host at the central office can access the remote digital diagnostics and monitoring by reading dedicated memory pages of the local SFP+, which are a mirror of the host device. This feature can also be used to send commands to a remote device, which enables use-cases such as automatic tuning and automatic power-balancing. This makes EFFECT’s SFP+ modules a powerful asset in the toolkit of any telecom provider looking to dynamically control and monitor its telecommunication network. Examples of NarroWave applications will be demonstrated live at EFFECT’s booth #317.

ROCKETCHIP MODULE

At our booth, EFFECT Photonics proudly presents Rocketchip, one of the biggest European projects in Optical communications that we coordinate. The RocketChip project is about developing a 400Gb/s optical communications module for optical fibre transmission by using Photonic Integrated Circuits (PIC’s) in a most advanced way, enabling:

  • Faster technology
  • Longer distances
  • High yield and low costs

The project is funded by the European Union,  as part of the Horizon2020 Programme. The project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 756049. More information about the project can be found at http://rocketchip.eu/

EFFECT PHOTONICS IS LAUNCHING THEIR FIRST PRODUCT

Based on our ‘Optical System-on-Chip’ technology EFFECT Photonics is launching their first product into the market. Our Narrowband Tunable SFP+ can be used for Mobile Fronthaul applications. It supports Industrial Temperature operation, allowing customers to use in it in outdoor environments. With a reach of up to 80 km, it can be used in virtually any Fronthaul network. This tunable solution brings flexible and affordable DWDM to the edges of the network.
